Flights to the Netherlands have returned to Lublin Airport. On 30 March, a new year-round flight service to Maastricht, operated by Wizz Air, was launched. This is excellent news for those working abroad and their families, for business travellers, and for tourists alike.

– This new route is a response to the expectations of travellers from our airport. Many residents of the Lublin region work and live in the Netherlands, Belgium or western Germany. A direct flight connection will greatly facilitate travel to the Benelux countries. But it is also an interesting tourist destination for everyone – says Dariusz Krzowski, CEO of Lublin Airport.

Maastricht is the oldest and one of the most beautiful cities in the Netherlands, known for its picturesque old town, atmospheric cafés and rich cultural offering. At the same time, it is an ideal base for further travel around the region. The city has excellent transport links – Amsterdam can be reached by train or car in around 2.5 hours, Dortmund in Germany in almost the same time, and Brussels in Belgium in just over an hour.

The extensive rail and road infrastructure allows for quick and comfortable travel to both major cities and charming towns on the border of the three countries. The proximity of the border enables quick trips to Aachen in Germany, Liège in Belgium and many other attractive tourist destinations. It is a true paradise for lovers of culture and historical sites.

– The resumption of the service to the Netherlands is excellent news for the residents of Lublin and the entire region. We are launching a convenient and fast route that meets the needs of both tourists and business travellers. Maastricht is also an attractive gateway to the entire Benelux region. We are consistently expanding our network of connections, enhancing Lublin’s transport links and its significance on the map of Europe,” says Krzysztof Żuk, Mayor of Lublin.

Flights to Maastricht from Polish airports are currently offered only by Lublin and Katowice, making the new route unique on the map of domestic and international connections. All the more so, it is an attractive option for residents of neighbouring provinces, namely Mazovia, Świętokrzyskie and Podkarpacie.

– A connection is returning to us that highlights the uniqueness of Lublin Airport’s offering. Launching a flight to one of the Netherlands’ most important cities will boost trade and facilitate business and leisure travel. “I am delighted that the airport is responding to the needs of the residents of the Lublin Province by providing a wide range of destinations that help develop our region,” emphasised Jarosław Stawiarski, Marshal of the Lublin Province.

The Lublin–Maastricht route will operate year-round, twice a week – on Mondays and Fridays. This offers convenience for both business travellers and those planning weekend visits. The journey takes approximately 2 hours.
