In view of the rapidly growing passenger traffic, Lublin Airport has decided to expand its car parks. A total of 262 new parking spaces will be created. The new development will improve the comfort of travellers, particularly during the holiday season. Lublin Airport has already obtained a decision approving the construction design and a building permit for the project involving the car park expansion. The works will be carried out in two phases. In the first phase, 132 parking spaces will be created, whilst in the second, a further 130 spaces, together with technical infrastructure. The new car parks will be built on the departures side of the airport. – We are striving to provide passengers with the best possible conditions for travelling from our airport. The expanding network of flights, particularly during the summer season, affects the number of vehicles in the airport car parks. Hence the decision to increase the number of parking spaces. “We want the new spaces to be ready before the peak of the summer holiday departures. I hope that this expansion will put an end to the problems with overcrowded car parks at the airport,” says Dariusz Krzowski, CEO of Lublin Airport. A tender process was announced, for which six bids were received. The cheapest bid amounts to just over PLN 2.48 million net (PLN 3.06 million gross), whilst the most expensive is nearly PLN 3.37 million net (PLN 4.14 million gross). The bids submitted are currently being analysed. The results of the tender and the company that will build the car parks will be announced once the procedure has been completed. Work is scheduled to begin in early March, whilst the completion of the first phase and the opening of the car park are planned for early June. The second phase is due to be completed in late June or early July. Following the expansion, Lublin Airport will offer 727 parking spaces, an increase of over 56% (Lublin Airport currently has two car parks with a combined capacity of 465 spaces).
