The northern part of Tunisia has a Mediterranean climate with hot, dry summers. In holiday resorts, the high temperatures are cooled by sea breezes. Buildings worth seeing The ribat in Tunisia, best preserved in the city of Susa, was built in the 9th century during the reign of the Aghlabid dynasty. It was a defensive structure protecting the coast of Tunisia from invasions from the Mediterranean Sea. At the same time, it served a religious function, as it was home to warriors devoted to prayer and the defense of Islam. It is characterized by massive stone walls, watchtowers, and an inner courtyard. The ribat is an important monument of Tunisian history and is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Enjoy the unique atmosphere Tunisia’s beaches are known for their light, fine sand and warm, clear Mediterranean Sea. The most popular seaside resorts are located in Monastir. The beaches are ideal for both relaxation and water sports such as diving and windsurfing. The swimming season lasts a long time – from spring until late fall. Thanks to the sunny climate, beaches are one of Tunisia’s biggest tourist attractions.
